Daddy's little girl

Sydney is such a daddy's little girl. She is attached to Anthony at the hip, and can't get enough of him. She asks me all day long, "Daddy home soon?" She loves every single second she spends with him and loves daddy-daughter time the most.

Sydney has always been my "decorator." Ever since she could walk she has been re-arranging our furniture, well the ones she can move anyway. I was making dinner and heard her moving the chairs around. When I looked to see what she was doing I saw she moved the placemat and the chair right next to daddy's chair. She wanted to sit right next to daddy. What a sweetie pie.

And here is daddy sitting next to her:

Yummy, good pizza! I used a beer bread mix for the crust and adding beer instead of just water really adds a lot of flavor. Sydney's crashed her trike a few times from all the alcohol but she'll be fine in no time. Kidding, the beer cooks out. Or "they" say it does at least.

No paparazzi please, I'm trying to eat pizza here:
Nice Santa cup huh? The kid is so afraid of Santa yet she still talks about him almost daily and loves this Santa cup.

Ta Da!

One more video I took of Syd the other day

Photo Sharing - Video Sharing - Photo Printing - Photo Books

This two minute video took less than two minutes to upload, compared to an hour that it takes on blogger or photobucket. So cool! You will probably be seeing many videos on this site now.

Okay, but really?

One of our favorite shows in the O house is American Idol. We actually just started watching two seasons ago and we are hooked. Even Sydney loves it for all the singing.

I just don't get the lack of talent that try out for the show. I know some people do it as a joke, perhaps some are a dare, but some horrible singers are really serious! They are absolutely horrendous singers and get so offended and upset they haven't made it to Hollywood. Okay, but really people? You really think you are the next American Idol, really? I know I have no room to talk-I am not a great singer and I am the first to admit it, however I would never try out for a singing competition either. I like to sing, unfortunately the only person who thinks I am any good is Sydney and she is two and hasn't figured out yet that mommy is tone deaf.

Speaking of great singers, here is a cute video I finally uploaded. This is from last month of Cameron and Sydney singing. Future 2025 American Idol contestants possibly? Cameron is doing lead vocals and Sydney is singing backup.

Oh yes, fyi-dropshots is literally 100x quicker to upload than the other ones. Love it.

Brusha Brusha Brusha

Anyone know what that's from? I know Carli and Anne do at least....

Here's the toddler brushing her teeth tonight, she actually does pretty well but of course we still brush them after she is done.
This is her favorite bedtime outfit. She picks it out nearly every night. The top is actually a regular shirt that is part of a three piece Elmo outfit. The pants are a hand me down from Ivy, she loves these things and wants to wear them everywhere-the store, school, etc. The socks are her UW Husky socks, which she calls her hi-key gocks.

Preschool already?

Today's discussion topic at Sydney's school was preschool. How do I almost have a preschooler? Open houses at preschools are starting now, and registration is next month-for September, crazy huh? I am pretty sure we are going to enroll Sydney in a little 3's program at a local preschool that doesn't start until next January. Her September 7th birthday doesn't meet the September 1st cut off and this program is for kids who don't make the cut off or weren't ready to start preschool in September. I have heard some great things about the school so I am really excited to check it out.
Their open house started today so we'll be checking it out in the next couple of days. I am also interested in checking out a local montessori preschool along with a co-op. I don't think this is the route we'll go, but I want to look into them anyway just in case. I mean this schooling might determine if Sydney will go to Harvard or just to the local community college one day. Totally kidding. No really, I just want a great program that comes highly recommended, close to home, affordable and one that she loves to go to twice a week.

Dancing with the girls

Sydney's friend Samantha joined her ballet class today! Sydney had so much fun having both Ivy and Samantha in her class. Samantha did great! She followed instructions so well and did a great job dancing. I can't wait for the big recital coming up in May. Watching these two year olds dance is really the cutest thing-some run around, some stand there and some actually dance. Sydney did a little of each one of these things today.

Lauren is the little girl in the class who loves to run around-usually back and forth in front of the mirror as she watches herself, it is so funny. As soon as Sydney walked into class today she grabbed her hands and they were playing ring around the rosie together.

Samantha, Ivy and Sydney after class

Just when I think Sydney is getting so big I see her next to other kids her age and I realize she's still a peanut. She does weigh 22 pounds on our home scale though, woo hoo!

Girls weekend

Anthony worked all weekend so Sydney and I spent some quality weekend time together.
Yesterday we visited the Children's Museum in Everett. It was fun, but CROWDED. I remembered why we avoid these places on weekends. Normally when we go during the week there are a couple kids in each exhibit. Yesterday there were about 15 kids in each area and it was just pure craziness. Definitely a much more fun place when you have it to yourself.

Today Sydney and I went park hopping. We started off at a park down the street that I had wanted to check out for some time. Sydney wasn't impressed-she is all about the slides right now. This place was built for bigger kids. It had a merry go round, big rope climbing structure and swings. Of course she tried to climb the rope structure but really it's built for ten year olds not two year olds. We went to the ol' standby park that we frequent often. It has two slides and it's also very close to our house.

Tonight we took Nana and Papa to Chevy's restaurant, one of our faves. Last night when I was putting Sydney to bed I told her we were going to the park today. She said, "Papa, 'morrow?" I asked if she wanted to see Papa tomorrow and she said, "Yeah and Nana too. " She was having grandparent withdrawals, poor kiddo. She talks about both sets of grandparents all the time, it's so cute. Oh yes, and Mitch too-my dad and Kay's dog. She is so afraid of him but loves him just the same. Silly girl.

Back to the pics-

The park

She loved running around. She kept running up the grassy hill saying, "Up." Then she'd run down and say, "down."
Here she is playing, "Dora." We went to this park with Cameron and one time the kids played Dora the Explorer in this little wooded area. As soon as we walked into it she said, "Dora, play Pameron." Good memory!
More slide
There were two kids with their battery motorized cars today at the park. This little boy was so funny. He got out of his car and popped open the hood to show me that he has an 800 hp engine. (that's what it said on the sticker and he wanted to show me.) He was very proud of the car. Sydney so badly wanted to drive these. When the little girl left her corvette, Sydney ran over and asked to sit in it. I think we know what Santa will have to bring next year huh? The girl loves her cars.
I thought this picture was so adorable of Sydney. Sorry Nana, I caught you in mid sentence.

Mmm, ice cream.

A day at the Gym

Today Sydney and I met up with Samantha, baby Jacob and Lisa for open gym at Gymboree. The girls had a blast! We used to be members of Gymboree (in fact so did Lisa and Samantha-this is where Lisa and I met up again!) but quite a while ago we decided to try something new. (Was it a year ago? I can't even remember now.)
I am very glad we checked it out now that the girls are older because they were able to do so much more. When we went here for class a year ago Sydney was in the middle of her clingy and scared of everything stage. She was afraid of the parachute, the bubbles, and would never get more than a foot away from me. What a change from now! Sydney loved climbing up the ladders and going down the slides and just had a great time bouncing around. We'll definitely come back again for open gym.

Here are some pictures of the girls at "the gym." This is what she calls it now.

I swear I am having deja vu...oh that's right, Samantha is doing the exact same post at Kaden's playdate two weeks ago. Samantha is a laid back kind of gal.
Wheee!!
Sydney loved this thing-it really wasn't as scary as it looks in this picture!
I was pretty impressed-Syd climbed up this thing on her first try. My little girl has gotten so brave!
This was so cute. One of the moms was pulling her kids around and Sydney decided to join them in the "train." The girl in the middle held both kids hands. We couldn't get all three of them to smile for anything!
Samantha had so much fun!
The girls!
A couple videos:

Sydney hopping it up:

I was trying to get a video of Samantha doing her Shakira/hula girl dance, but instead it turned into a riverdance. These kids crack me up.

Sydney hearts her buggy

Today Syd and I took a walk around the neighborhood since it wasn't raining...yet. I asked Sydney if she wanted to ride her new trike and she wasn't having it. I offered up the buggy and she was jumping up and down. She still loves this thing. Maybe by the summer she'll be more into her trike.

We only had a short window of time after her nap since it looked like it was going to start raining at any second. Sure enough, 1/3 of the way through the 'hood it started sprinkling. Really not that big of deal-we are Seattle folks and we're used to the rain. It's a bit chilly though. I just checked weather.com and it said it's 40 degrees, yet feels like 33. Hmm, why yes it does.

Sydney was not thrilled when we pulled into the driveway. I am pretty sure I could have walked around the neighborhood 25 times in the pouring rain and she'd still be asking for more. She did give her buggy a huge kiss when we were done. I didn't have the camera handy so I had Sydney do a re-enactment:

The past couple of days she's been a kissing fool. Yesterday it was kissing Samantha and Cole after school, and today she kissed her new book from Jessica and Greg-every single page. I have to say it is a really cool book. Each page is a letter with a pop up animal. She kissed every single animal-and twice because we had to read it again.

Slowly but surely...

Here are a few more pictures from the last couple of weeks that I have been meaning to add. I have plenty more so instead of overwhelming everyone with all of them, I'll add them each day.

My banana girl

This picture of Jackson and Sydney was taken a couple of weeks ago when Jessica was watching Syd after Maddy's party. They are so cute together.

A daddy-daughter day from a couple weeks ago-see how far behind I am?

Happy face!!
Sydney loves her hat. We were driving home and she kept saying, "Look! Look!" This is what I saw when I looked back. Silly girl.
