We are definitely not in California anymore...

The snow is completely gone from our snowy weekend we happily missed. It snowed about six inches here at our house, craziness! We never get snow this late.
It's actually close to 50 degrees today so Sydney and I played outside for a bit. As you can tell we got a little too used to the sunny weather-Sydney's hands were cold and she had to wear her mittens.

Sydney didn't mind the cold though, she just loves to be outside!

I have many pictures of our California trip to add, hopefully that will happen tonight! :)

Wish you were here...

Apparently we have a few inches of snow at our house. We wouldn't know because we are in sunny California, enjoying 80 degree weather and swimming in Gram-o and Pop-o's pool. So glad we aren't home. We are having a great time. Sydney is enjoying her time with Gram-o, Pop-o and Uncle Andrew. She LOVES the pool...

Strut your stuff girl!

Today I decided to teach Sydney how to walk the catwalk, since you know I know the catwalk so well and all. Haha.
Sydney was wearing a new shirt from Nana and cute new jeans from Ari (we love our Ari hand me downs.) I thought it would be fun for Sydney to show daddy her new outfit, so I showed Sydney the "walk." Of course she put her own spin on the catwalk, including her strut. Here she is practicing:

That mines!!

One of the most wonderful things about having a two and a half year old is you are constantly reminded of what is theirs, in case you forgot. If I had a dollar for everytime I hear, "That's mine!" I'd be rich. Today for instance Samantha was standing close to me and Sydney told her, "That's mines mommy." She points to her toys and tells us, "That's mines toy." Today she also pointed out "her" car and house. I have to say the "mine mine mine" stage rates up there with the whining...ahh. Love it. Not.

Sydney's posse

Today was a school day, and Sydney's been bouncing off the walls over it since yesterday. Today in class Cole began running around the room pushing the grocery cart. Sydney assumed it was an invitation to chase him so she began to run around after him. Samantha noticed what was happening and since this is a normal playdate activity, she jumped in and ran around also. The teacher commented she should probably stop it but it was so cute she'd let it go.
Lisa asked us later, "Are our kids social with just each other or do you notice them playing with other kids?" That's when I realized-nope. Sydney plays by herself or with Cole and/or Samantha. I don't think she even realizes there are other kids there half the time. Hmm, very interesting.

We went to Red Robin to celebrate Kristin's 37th birthday-okay fine, she's 27. Just for one day I wanted to be younger than her, darnit! Anyway, here are our noticeably older kids posing for pics. Don't they look way older?? Wow.

What time is it?

Sydney's newest thing is, "What time is it?" Not like she even has any idea about time or anything...it's quite funny. I tell her the time and she says, "Oh" and that's it. I used a line my dad used to use with us and asked Sydney, "Why, do you have a date?" She said yes, I asked with who, and she told me with baby Jacob. What a goofball.

Daddy Daughter Day and we have a new puppy!

Today was daddy-daughter day and everyone was looking forward to it. Sydney and Anthony love their time together, and mommy appreciates a little time to herself. :)

Daddy and daughter went to the outdoor show, to lunch and to their fave store, Joes. Sydney talks about the "dune buggy" at Joes all the time, she loves sitting in it and "driving" it.

They found our new puppy at the outdoor show-an absolute perfect dog. He sleeps the whole time, even breathes and snores. He's pretty cute and doesn't need any care. My kind of pet! His name is White Puppy. Check him out!

After daddy daughter day, Anthony and Sydney took me to Burgermaster, mmmm. It was such a beautiful day that all the cool classic cars were out in full force. They all come to the BM to show off their cars and especially their engines. It's fun checking them out. At 7:30 it was still 74 degrees out so we stopped off at the park to play. Ahh, I am sooo excited for the warm weather. It's about time!

Sydney loves these shopping carts. She actually does really well at steering and hasn't taken anyone (or anything) out yet. The only problem is she only lasts about 5 minutes before she tells me, "All done." Then I am stuck pushing the pint size cart around the rest of the store. Sa-weet.

Little Mommy

Sydney is such a little mommy. She is really into her dolls lately. She takes them for a stroll in her doll stroller, changes a poopy diaper once a day, and also feeds the baby milk and juice. Today she even read her doll a book. Between her love for kitchens, cooking, cleaning and dolls, I think she may just be the perfect little Suzy Homemaker when she gets older...or a Home Ec teacher. haha.

We've gone organic!

And I am trading my SUV in for a Prius.

So lately I have been thinking more about choosing organic produce. It's healthier for our family and organic produce tastes better, we can definitely notice a difference.

I was reading an article about organic produce delivery and I thought, "What a great idea." We already have our milk delivered and we love it. We never run out of milk and the milk tastes better than store milk. And it's hormone free, perfect for Sydney.
We certainly do not eat enough veggies at our house and I really want to start feeding my family healthier food. What better way to try new veggies, and since I will not allow the veggies to go bad and I HATE throwing produce away, then I will cook with them and I will love it. ;)

I will say we eat quite a bit of fruit at our house, but I am always up for trying new fruit. I remembered hearing my high school friend Brandi's husband had started an organic produce delivery service in our area called Edens Organics and I checked it out. I liked the foods on the weekly list, although I did substitute some onions for more potatoes. The cost is $35 per delivery, but after pricing the food at the grocery store, it's about the same price as going to my fave store for produce, Central Market. Actually it'd be more expensive at Central Market because then I would realize we'd need Cheerios, crackers, cheese, etc and well, they are about as pricey as Whole Foods. (I prefer to buy the staples at Albertsons.)

Anyway, we had our first delivery last week and it's great! The fruit tastes terrific. The oranges were gone the next day, and the apples and mangoes are awesome. The veggies are great also, although we haven't made it through all of them yet. I will say the strawberries weren't the greatest, I realize it's not strawberry season yet so hopefully they will be better next time. All in all we are very pleased with this service and we will get our produce delivery every other week.

Oh yes-one more thing I like. They buy most of their produce from local growers, and they include recipes for the ingredients. We had a terrific salad recipe that included the lettuce, strawberries and mangos. Yummy.
